John and I have been playing together for about two years now, and naturally, when it reaches that certain time of the year, we have to put aside all the other songs we’ve worked days on and switch to Christmas songs. The really frustrating part of this is we get them worked up and then only get to play them for about 3 weeks at the most. Combined with already having plenty of pieces worked up and everyone wanting to hear an example of our Christmas music for booking shows, this EP was born.
The plan was originally to just issue a single 78 record, because some of our songs would work good to be on an actual album. After some reflection, it was determined that the 78s were not cost effective to release. We still wanted to release the two tracks, but decided that two would be too few digitally, so the 4-track EP was constructed.
The first two songs on the EP are the two that would have been the 78-so those our are old favorites from records. The following two songs on "Side B" are our radio favorites.
All tracks are in the public domain; Djingle Bells chorded by Matt & John.
